Freeware alternative to Daemon Tools?

PoorlyHung

Hi all,

Call me paranoid, but I don't trust Daemon tools, and I don't like that it runs on startup.  I have gone into msconfig, disabled its startup entry.  That used to work, I think the developers caught onto that, and made changes in newer releases.  I've even gone into regedit, deleted the startup entries there, but after launch of daemon tools, those entries are restored.  I''m very particular about what programs run at startup, and daemon tools is pissing me off. LOL

Any ideas?

Thank you!

What exactly is Deamon tools?

It's a software that lets you create a virtual drive, like making the computer think it has another DVD drive when it's really just the software.

It's used by some people to install pirated games.
