4600 Bucks to burn

IHaveNoClue

Hey, i just literally created this account just now, to see if it were possible to get any heads up on what the f*ck to buy when it comes to expensive laptops. I also could not find the rules, so i don't know if all the swearing and shit is off limits, but yea...I'll take my chances.

The main usage of this laptop is probably just going to be making music (Lots of uuh...well, stuff going on, not really samples, like synths and a shitton of FX for anyone that knows what i'm talking about so idnno, i guess it's cpu heavy??? or something), and video editing, like, fucking heavy video editing with motherfucking 10 twitch effects stacked on top of each others, all layered with at least 50 layers of glowy shit each....oh, and gaming and probably recording while gaming.
So as my name suggests, i have no clue of what the fuck i'm doing, so i'll just try to as accurately as possible, translate the specs in my weirdass language into english;

MSI GT80S 6QE Titan SLI          Like 4600 bucks or something

6. gen. Intel Core i7-6820HK (Skylake)

32GB DDR4 RAM

256GB (2x 128GB) PCIe SSD + 1TB HDD 7200rpm

Super RAID 4

Chipset Intel® CM236

Memory DDR4-2133, 4 slots, up to 64GB

Display 18.4” Full HD (1920x1080), Wide-viewing angle, IPS level panel Graphics

GeForce GTX 980M SLI

Graphics VRAM 8/4GB GDDR5

KindaUglyLookingThingThat'sLikeAnExclusivelyCustomBuiltLaptopByTheWebsiteI'mShoppingAtOrSomething

It doesn't come with an operating system, so adding that and hiring one of those lazy slobs to do it for me, it all equals to roughly 3350 bucks.
Uh...so ya, they kinna fucked me over by writing their specs for this one all in norwegian, so imma try my best to translate

4K Ultra-Fucking-HD-OrSomething

Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 8GB GDDR5 (Maxwell)

intel Core i7-6700K processor 4GHz ~ 4.2GHz it's like, quad or something, whatever, you guys understand that crap. Also, could someone explain as to why this shit is at like 4GHz? That's a pretty big number for processors, isn't it?

intel Z170 Chipset

32GB DDR4 2133MHz SO-DIMM RAM (2x 16GB))

500GB M.2 SATA SSD

1TB 7200rpm SATA 2.5" Harddrive (I don't actually know if this is the actual translation, but it has the word "hard" and "drive" if it's literally translated)
It says without DVDRW, like, the fuck is that?

Bluetooth 4.1

Oooh, fingerprint scanner

So ya, it's got like, 2x display ports, and like, according to these weirdos, it's got 3x USB 3.0 "with power share" (Whatever the fuck that is), 1x USB 3.1/Thunderbolt 3 Combo (Type-C) and 1x eSATA/USB 3.0 Combo "with power share" (Still don't know what the fuck that is)

BackStoryTimeAboutTheMSIGT80s
So i have these two laptops that i can't decide between, at first i was balls deep in going for the MSI GT80S 6QE TITAN SLI which goes for around 4600 bucks, and then i read that for some reason...in the specs listed on al of the norwegian websites, the GPU's aren't classified as desktop GPU's, they're named as "GTX 980M 8GB SLI", which quite frankly, confused the fucking shit outta me, cause i had been looking up a bunch of reviews and stuff about this machine, as all people who don't know jackshit about what it is that they're purchasing do, and they were all mentioning desktop GPU's. So i basically went over to  an american site and landed on some site called "Newegg" and where i basically just went for the highest specs available for that laptop, which are even better specs than the one that's sold on the norwegian sites.
So i was like "Ya okay, so basically, i guess this thing is going to cost like 10k more than the one i'm looking at, and the fact is that Norway sucks and we just don't have the godlike version of this laptop yet *proceeds to convert the usd into nok* *Boom. Exact same price as the shittier version sold on the norwegian website* So ya, i'm like "whuuuut", and i start digging around for the godlike version, and quite frankly, not giving a fuck if i need to spend 10k more or whatever just because this machine's got me fucking hooked, but nah, can't find it in any norwegian websites anywhere, they all list the GPU's as mobile GPU.
So ya, i don't know if that's a mistake from the norwegian retailers or someshit, was planning on calling them when those lazy fuckers open their phone lines, but i figured i'd try to get some answers from you guys, if it were possible

So you know like...which one is the sickest? Probably the MSI one, but does it justify the price differencial?
It probably doesn't when you get the price tag as high as this, then you know, there's rarely anything that justifies price differential, but i'm willing to burn a couple of extra hundred bucks if it means i'm getting a sick laptop that i won't need to think twice with before turning my graphics up to ultra, while watching japanese tentacle porn, while making music, while video editing, while eating bagels and while lightly scratching my balls.

Thanks in advance and uh...stuff like that

Are you sure it has to be a laptop and not, at worst, a mini-ITX desktop that's fairly portable? You could fit a powerful Xeon into the thing and a titan X. Like that one video where they put in a xeon and a titan x.

Tip to those that are new on LTT forum- quote a post so that the person you are quoting gets a notification, otherwise they'll have no idea that you did. You can also use a tag such as @Ryoutarou97 (replace my username with anyone's. You should get a dropdown after you type the "@")to send a notification, but quoting is preferable.

Feel free to PM me about absolutely anything be it tech, math, literature, etc. I'll try my best to help. I'm currently looking for a cheap used build for around $25 to set up as a home server if anyone is selling.

If you are a native speaker please use proper English if you can. Punctuation, capitalization, and spelling are as important to making your message readable as proper night theme formatting is.

My build is fully operational, but won't be posted until after I get a GPU in it and the case arted up.

What I see in this post:

Long introduction

Some spammy stuff, looking like someone hit their head on their keyboard

More long stuff

conclusion

Possible trolling

Anyways, build a PC, so much better value, so much better.

Okay, so what if, just what if, building a desktop computer is sort of a waste, considering i'm not home 95% of the time, and the 4% of the time i'm home, i'll most likely be sleeping.
Also, as mentioned, i make music and stuff, that means lots of collaborative efforts, so ya, you kinda need something that's portable af

Split your budget, build a pc (NCIX can build you one for $50) , buy a laptop, and some games. Then realize that you made a good choice and game.

You guys are fucking fast at responding, but damn. Not a lot of actual helpful stuff here.

Like ya, you can torch me as much as you want about how stupid a laptop compared to a desktop is, but when you're gone 95% of your time, desktop's really aren't an option

Well as mentioned, i'm still a normal guy, like...i would like to be able to play actual video games. I've never had a mac before, and i really don't feel like switching to IOS like that and it also limits a lot of the stuff that i'm currently using that is exclusively for windows when it comes to music

Okay so you can't get  a macbook because you want to game on it. Would you be gaming at home or while you're gone?

at 4600 you just buy the best computer you can.

4 Ghz is good, but not necessary for what a laptop'll be doing

i7 is a yes because of budget

16gb of ram

4k is optional, but not really recommended because I assume at some point you will want to game on it, and 4k will make your laptop consider suicide

I like this, which I think is what you want:

Shipping sucks
