what is a safe temp for a 2tb hdd?

IsaacDaGrazin
Go to solution Solved by givingtnt,

mine is 45 degrees Celsius right now, is that okay?

yeah its not a problem. I mean, it could technicaly go up to 99 ish degrees and it would be  "fine"

the problem is with really high temperatures corrupting data. (just like heating a magnet demagnitise it forever. but that takes quite a lot of heat.)

I'd say between 20 and 45 are the ideal temps. It can operate properly on higher or lower that that, but it's not recommended.

From salty to bath salty in 2.9 seconds

50°C is danger zone and 60°C is the max it should go.

As long as you stay under 50°C it's fine. When you get to 60°C you need to do something because that's not good.

And you can go as low as 0°C, but please stay above that, no need to cool your hdd that much.

Found it in official documentation from the WD green btw, yes you probably have another hdd, but all hdd's are almost exacly the same so the temps are probably the same, or very similar.
