Nice deals! Might go out of my hometown to a few other CEX's looking for bargains next week as I'm off work. My local one seems to have loads of laptop memory though for some reason??

Get that build done I wanna see it! :P

Might mainly because I am young (15) therefore money is a slight issue and total cost so far is £75.28 not including PSU & coolers :/ (I have £155 to spend, but some of that has to go towards a little school project....)

Well if you want a decent yet cheap PSU and 430W is enough for your build I recommend this XFX TS 430W  http://www.scan.co.uk/products/430w-xfx-ts-80-plus-bronze-single-rail-1x120mm-fan-atx-psu you might be able to get it cheaper than that if you shop around.

CPU - Ryzen 7 5800x3D |  GPU - RTX 3080 TUF OC | Motherboard - ASUS TUF X570 | RAM - Patriot Viper Blackout 32GB 3200MHz | Case - InWin 805 | Boot Drive - Corsair MP600 PCIe 4.0  Storage - 2 x 1TB SSD's & 1 500GB SSD | PSU - Seasonic Focus Gold 1000w | Display - ASUS TUF VG27WQ Curved 1440P 165Hz | Cooling - ASUS TUF LC240 AIO + 5 aRGB Fans

Older xeons aren't worth anything. I have a dual xeon server, it was 5 USD for four chips

Yeah on their own they aren't worth much but if you can put them to use in an old 775 board with a cheap GPU they can make reasonable gaming machines, especially the 4 cores.

Just wondering, in the original image what's the model number of the big one in the middle?

Pretty sure that's the E5606, I think that's the 1366 socket one as it's bigger than the rest.

Alright, maybe the bottom right one is 1366 too? It looks similar.

It's possible but I don't think so as that e5606 is a lot physically bigger than the rest. I think the rest are either 775 or 771. Maybe the perspective of the picture makes that one on the bottom right look bigger than the rest, it's not.

Plz no, dun start.  I have him on my ignore list.

But, that won't work according to Intel.  "FCLGA1567" Is the only supported socket.

Socket LS supported Xeon 6500 and 7500 iirc, it's the multi-processor config socket. Later it supported some E7s.. I think it was the westmere ones.

Ohhhh.... I'll stay out of whatever happened then

@harrynowl can help also then :)

I assume a rant about AMD :P

That would probably be more useful.  xD

:D

@Gazereths I approve of the purchase :)

I too like my 775 and 771s..

@harrynowl seems you have some experience with these CPU's, any recommendations for cheap 775 mobo's I should be on the lookout for? Specifically for the E5440 and E5420's.

I have a pre-modded P5Q if you're interested, I have some E6300s to bin for LN2 stuff first though

But most P45 boards from the higher mid-> top range will do the trick.

Where are you located? I'm in the UK so if it's not a huge cost to post I might be interested. Thanks for the tips though I'll keep an eye out for P45 boards.

You think this would work? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MSI-G41M-P25-LGA775-Motherboard-CORE-2-QUAD-CELERON-EXCELLENT-CONDITION-/161955387490?hash=item25b54b1862:g:CQUAAOSwUV9WokBu

I think it'd work, and be quite crap.

I'm in the UK as well, noted your use of GBP on the cost for the CPUs before I offered :P

LOL OK cool, what kind money are you after for the board?

Why would that board I linked be crap? As long as it works to test the chips it'd do.....I'll obviously look out for a deal on one though, that was just a cursory search.

It's not really worth throwing money at a G31/G41 board, £26 is quite a lot for a board that cost like £35 new.

I'd be looking for like £30 posted for the P5Q, pre-modded with BIOS & socket mod as well so that's handy.
