A few months ago, I got a MacBook Air and the OS has annoyed me since then. I was wondering, if it was possible to get Windows on it (I've a Windows 7 key sticker on a 4yr laptop, that I will use and upgrade it to Windows 10 on the mac, if that's possible) I heard something about BootCamp, but I'm not too experienced with all this, so I was wondering if any of you guys know how to do

Can you still return it?  The OS is the main reason anyone would buy a Mac so if you don't like it you may be better off with a PC laptop.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

Boot camp is seamless and offers full hardware support to both OSes therefore is much better than a VM.

yes you can install over osx with windows 10... thats why there are pictures of macs at windows places, because you can install windows on a well designed computer.

Nope, but the main reason I bought it was the design, weight and of course to brag that I got a $1000 dual core so that's not a problem lol

So it would be possible to use a Windows 7 key on my Mac, and then upgrade to Windows 10 on my Mac (Not sure how well BootCamp supports it)

Just bring up bootcamp on the mac. It guides you through the proccess pretty well. Make sure you have a >8GB usb stick to hand, and get a windows iso from here https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

I currently run just windows 10 on my macbook pro, and have a spare hard drive for the rare occasions when I need OSX, but the boot camp installer lets you partition things the way you need them.

ehh macbook has mac in it... didnt think I had to specify...

You said you could install windows on a well designed computer.  I was just saying you could also install it on a computer that loses half its performance to overheating and only has 1 port

I used a windows 8.1 key them upgraded so that should work fine.

As far as I can tell from the past 5 weeks, windows 10 seem to work fine with bootcamp

Someone already posted the video on how to install Windows in Bootcamp. It's seriously easy. And You can set it to boot Windows first everytime you use your laptop. W10 works really well on my macbook pro (upgraded from W8.1). Mine just sucks that it doesn't switch between dgpu and igpu so my battery suffers a lot. But your macbook air should be fine.

I know I'm one random guy on the internet, but trust me when I say keep using it and try to learn every possible trick you can.

I was forced to use a Mac and I hated it, but now I think it's the best OS ever. Especially the trackpad. You're gonna miss that thing.

I do like the OS.  At least the core, that is ... honestly I hate the interface but I've had enough experience with the OS overall to be really impressed.  I'd even consider arguing it is the best in the world, perhaps.

That's an oem key and won't work, u need to buy a new windows key and use boot camp to dual boot it.

Not kill it, but seriously impact the way that the gestures work. Windows wasn't built for the trackpad, whereas OS X is. It still has all the gestures and stuff but they're nowhere near as "refined"

This should grant you most the gestures back, if the article is truthful. I don't own a mac, and haven't tried this at all or anything.

You can get all the same gestures on Windows too, it just depends on your trackpad driver and what other software you install (and as you said they're not as refined)

Of course the apple ones would be better - they can write their own drivers for their trackpad and their OS.  Windows is just kind of thrown out there and manufacturers have to support their own products (which they usually don't very well) or you're gonna have a bad time :)

I've got tap to click, two-finger tap to middle-click, two finger scrolling vertically and horizontally, pinch to zoom, tap and hold to drag without having to hold a mouse button down, "edge momentum" so if I drag to the edge of my trackpad and it still isn't far enough, the mouse will continue to move in that direction even though I'm just holding my finger in one spot, etc.

I should have mentioned in more detail -

The fact that you have to use third party software to get the gestures back is exactly why it's not as nice. I did install Windows and the powerplan7 software on my MacBook, I experimented hell of a lot to get it more like OS X. I still occasionally have to use it for certain windows-only software. It works, but it's not nice. It's difficult to use. It's a real shame.

Maybe Apple has updated the drivers since for Windows 10, but I don't see it being much different based on what it used to be like.

One last question

Is it possible to go back to OS X and then use the key on another computer if I regret?

Easy enough to go back to OSX. Some else can answer in regards to windows key liscencing, as I am not really sure anymore.
