I dropped a screw into my psu. I have a evga supernova 750w b2, and need to take off the top to get it out (and sadly void the warranty, I already had to take the sticker off). But I can't figure out how to take off the top. I think I took all the screws out but it still won't budge. I tried shaking it out for ten minutes so that's not gonna work.

I'll try and post pictures on mobile but in the mean time, any ideas?

When i dropped a screw in mine I got a straw, and sucked in and used the suction then carefully lifted the straw out with the screw.

Its not stupid if it works.

I am more careful with my PSU now.

You just lift up the panel with the fan on it, but could you not shake the PSU to get the screw out or use a magnet?

Also if you do open the PSU be careful of the capacitors and the contacts on them, it's best to leave the PSU unplugged for 30-60 mins before opening or messing around inside.

I tried to shake it and use a magnet for a long time but to no avail.

The issue is I can't get it off, I'm trying to figure out if there are any more screws

The U shaped panel is just wedged in place along the side where there is a tab to ensure it doesn't move, so if you very carefully prying it should break it free and come off.

Any suggestions on how to do that?

Yeah as Enderman said you don't want to remove the screws to the PCB where the internal cables go or power plug put those back in, you just need to pull or wedge something in between the U shaped panel to break it loose.

Well... I'm in... And I can't find the screw. Damnit I'm not plugging this thing in and potentially comprise the whole system without finding it. Might have to buy a new one

Take your time and check around make sure it's not wedged between the PCB and casing or a heasink there.
