Hey, I would like to upgrade my existing graphic card (Sapphire Radeon R7 250x) and (Intel i3 4330, 3,5GHz) Processor.

My PC is mainly for Gaming and little bit for school work.

I have a budget of around 285 US$ to about 430 US$. Please recommend parts for both price points but keep it on the lower end (285$)

My current hardware is:

GPU - Sapphire Radeon R7 250x

CPU - (Intel i3 4330, 3,5GHz

Motherboard - MSI H97M-E35

RAM - Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600MHz

Case - INTER-TECH CM-35 Midi Tower

Power Supply - 500w

Thanks

I would upgrade your GPU first. For that, go for the R9 380. Then save up the rest of your money and buy a better CPU. Don't bother getting a "K" series CPU as you can't overclock on that motherboard.

I say jiggly-bytes when I see "GB".

It goes down better than you would expect.

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Amd R9 380 and save up for an i5-4590 if you really need cpu horsepower, but i doubt you'll need more than an i3 for school work and gaming

An upgrade to an i5 would cost you $180 and a $100 gpu is a waste of money. Just buy a GTX 960 4GB for $210 or so and a 250 GB Samsung 850 EVO for $80 and keep the i3. You'd need to go to around $400 to make a worthy CPU + GPU upgrade (i5-4460 + R9 380 4GB). The GTX 960 4GB is probably the best pairing with an i3 for gaming performance. AMD cards often struggle with i3s due to their higher DirectX 11 overhead (but that doesn't usually show up in i5, which make AMD usually better than Nvidia at a given pricepoint when combined with an i5 or higher).

As it stands your gpu is really weak, your cpu is pretty solid when it comes to running AAA games.

Unless your playing games like GTA V or the Witcher 3 then just pour that money into the graphics card. I would reccomend the AMD R9 380 or 380X if you need to stay near the lower end of that price range. But if you can cough up the extra cash then get an Intel i5 4690 and one of those 2 graphics cards.
