So I want to get into programming and I have been tinkering around in JavaScript for a couple days, but I'm kinda confused. Could anyone recommend a website or some  videos explaining Java? It could be a course or something like that. I'm just looking for a easy tutorial to follow because I have never programed before. Thanks

KhanAcademy has some, though I am unable to provide links.

I can provide some advice though:

A good programmer is someone who looks both ways before crossing a one-way street.

Also, I would recommend starting with another language over Java.

Java is incredibly inefficient and generally not very intuitive.

I learned HTML and JavaScript from CodeAcademy. I'd recommend learning HTML first since it's very easy and gets you used to the repetitiveness of coding

I would recommend C++ or C# as your first real language though, Java is kind of garbo

It can also be told like this:

When a programmer goes to bed, he puts 2 glasses on his bedside table.

a full one, in case he gets thirsty, and an empty one, in case he doesn't.

Both of these basically describe that in programming, in the logic, one has to be very careful, because you never know what can happen.

you may expect an array of exactly 6 values but end up with 5 or 7 because of something you didnt expect.

3 tips to have a good time on the LTT forums | 1. When you reply to someone please quote them | 2. Please follow your threads | 3. Follow the C.o.C

If you follow these 3 tips you should have a blast.

i'm rather proud of this for some reason. http://imgur.com/6ttS5XZ

C# and Java are 87.9% similar.

C++ I have no expereince with, but I recommend avoiding C (it was a terrible few weeks)

But it is good practice to avoid those if possible.

good practice vs loads-a-mone

usually loads-a-mone wins
