Corsair C70 window mod

Go to solution Solved by W-L,

So I shipped my computer over from Norway to Canada, where my uni is, a few months back, and the case got banged up pretty bad.

I bent it back the best I could, and did a bit of touch up, however the inside of the window is pretty scratched up when the rad came off the fan mounts and hit the window.

I thought this might be as good time as any to replace the window of the case with one that does not have any fan grills.

What would be the best/ cheapest place to get a replacement window, as I no longer have access to a laser cutter to embark on the process myself.

MNPC makes great replacement windows for the C70, alternatively you can also use glass if you want more scratch resistance:

You don't need a laser cutter, just a drill and a sheet of acrylic, MNPCTech do windows IIRC.

Yeah, I hopped onto their website a while back after watching one of bill owen's videos on my case.

I guess that I was just hoping there would be a cheaper alternative, as its nearly $30 on their site for a piece of plastic...

I mean....still cheaper than a new case in the very least.

I would say it's fairly reasonable, the material cost of the acrylic would be around $10-15 for you to purchase and double that for the laser cutting and hardware they provide is about right.

Yeah from the looks of it, they not only cut out the shape, but also add the extruded bits that the screws go into.

If I were to do it myself, I would also have to source shorter screws, as it would be hard to recreate those extruded bits...

Most of the good ones require you to know Norwegian, and while I spent many years in Norway, I never got around to learning their language.

Since your in Canada, Ikea has a 1'x1' piece of glass (for a bedroom nightstand) for $10.  If you feel adventurous, you would have to change the mounting system entirely.  ...and it is glass (heavy and breakable).

Yeah, while smoked glass would look very nice, I dont have the tools on hand to redo the mounting mechanism...
