Durability Report and Review: Microsoft Lumia Back cover case for 640XL

Microsoft has made a bunch of colorful Lumia back covers for many of their smartphones.

 

I thought I'd try out a new color for my back cover as my original black one was getting covered in fingerprint oils and so I started looking for a new back cover for my 640XL. On amazon I saw a cool looking Orange one which would really jazz up the look of the phone. And It worked. Once i got it felt amazing in the hand, the texture felt nothing like the original matte plastic. 

 

One of my only complaints is that it picked up a bit dirt. From doing nothing it picked up dirt on it. I can confirm that it does pick up finger print oils but they are not visible in most lighting conditions.

 

 

So what's the takeaway with this? Well, I would have said "Go out and buy one if you want". But my new back cover case has cracked right next to the volume rocker. This happened one time when i was trying to take off the back and it didn't go off without quite a bit of force.

 

So, if you are gentle with your phone. Then and only then do i recommend this.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.
