8350 - i7 - or i5

Firstly: You just don't need that kind of power. - If you gonna game 80-90% of the time, and use it  for "light" rendering on a weekly basis get an i5, which is sill a monster in it's own right, with a good board, MSI z87-gd65 is a helluva board on the cheap for what it brings. 8350 is a good processor, but these days it seems to be the go to answer to every question on this thread.

 

Secondly, this is a third thread with the exact same question just today, search before you ask.

You can't really go wrong with an FX 8350, it has eight cores & uses the same AMD instruction sets as the eight core Jaguar CPU in the PS4 & XBOX One.
Game development always starts with the consoles and trickles down to the PC, so the developers will optimize for the AMD eight cores.
This gives the chip a "massive" boost in performance according to Matt Higby from Sony Online Entertainment.
