Gaming-Music Headset

Go to solution Solved by FloRolf,

Do you need the mic?

If not, get real headphones like DT770/880/990 and maybe an external mic, blue snowball or something.

I am looking to upgrade my cheap headphones to  new ones but i find it hard to choose from all the brands and features (since i've got no idea which manufacturer makes the best headphones).

What i am looking for:

1)Good (or amazing) sound Quality-(especially in music playback)

2)7.1 surround (virtual or true for FPS games)

3)Wireless (optional and makes my life a lot easier)

4)Around 200 Euros - 250 USD

Things i've checked out:Logitech G930,G933,Corsair Void,Kingston hyperX cloud,Razer tiamat 7.1.

Every recommendation is welcome.

true 7.1 in headphones isn`t really good, I would suggest getting HyperX or getting a headphone and seperate mic

A little DIY`ing can make any headset wireless

to game or not to game, that`s the question

Are they good for both gaming and listening to music? Are they comfy too?(I had round headphones but after 20 mins wearing them my ears used to hurt so i prefer oval shaped headphones).

While this isn't the most economical solution the Steel Series H wireless would fit that description... but I would imagine there is a better combo of headphones + modmic - would have to ask one of the experts lurking for this

Anything to suggest?

I would buy a non-gaming headphones for that budget and a mic. HD598, DT990

if you want wireless reaaaally bad then probably G933 or Steelseries wireless ones.

You don't want surround sound headphones. They're dumb and useless. If you want "surround sound", get a pair of open back headphones.

I personally don't think the price of bluetooth headphones is worth it right now. While I own a pair of Jaybirds, those are earbuds, not headphones. I use them when I listen to music from my phone.

If you want to start out cheap, I just got myself a pair of Superlux 681 EVO's and for only $50 you're getting a lot for the money. I even posted a review today: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/526544-superlux-681-evo-black-edition-%CD%A1%C2%B0-%CD%9C%CA%96-%CD%A1%C2%B0-hyperx-cloud-is-dead-to-me/

If you want a mic, I recommend the Zalman clip-on mic if you don't want to spend too much but get excellent quality. If you wanna spend more on a mic, the Blue Snowball is a good choice.

There's better choices than those gaming branded headsets, like everyone else is mentioning.

2nd this, the DT line are some of the most comfortable headphones around with their nice velour pads.

Between the DT 770 Pro (250 Ohms) andthe DT 990 Pro which one is better? (The 770 has closed ear cups and provides a bit of noise cancellation?)

they are the same thing just that one is closed back and one is open back.

Many people prefer open for gaming.

Open back leaks sound out and in, but sound stage feels wider, you can feel left and right channel distinctions more.

If you want to keep it in headset form, with that budget, the Sennheiser G4ME One ;) In my personal opinion, the best all-around headset on the market, and one of the best for FPS titles.

Of course if you want to save some $$, grab the HyperX Cloud or HyperX Cloud Core.
