two different gpus to fold ?

Go to solution Solved by iBeast_M0de,

so i a have a 970 in my system and my friend just gave me a gtx 650 and a hd5750, i think the 650 is dead and i wanted to put the 5750 in a dedicated folding rig but the mobo seems like iuts dead so heres my next option. if i put it in my current rig with my 970 and dont have a display connected to it will it still work on folding while i use my main gpu for games and such ?

I used a 770 and a 750 ti in the same rig I was gaming on the 770 and folding on the 750 ti and that worked just fine although I don't know about a mix of brands but U should be fine i don't think that'll be the issue. and about the display thing back in the day u needed to attach a monitor (or a DVI to VGA plug with a few resistors)  to every gpu for folding but after the GTX 4xx days (I think) it works without a screen attached

Yep, it should work just fine. You'll need the drivers installed though, which can be a pain to get working. Never tried it myself though.

ya, and here i am with my main problem being my ocd and my cable management since i have sleeved cables and my pcie power connectors are braided together so it would look aweful :/ ughhh

its like this but its black and comes from the psu then i have my sleeved extension coming off oone of the plugs in my basement of my case then going to the gpu, so having up in the main chamber to reach the second card would screw everything up

It can work, just plug it in, fiddle around with the drivers and see what happens. Not sure how well

that 5750 will do though, i think it's getting close to the edge of what is still supported.

Just be aware that when mixing amd and nvidia cards the folding client might get the cuda/opencl

id's wrong with the card id. So you might have to experiment abit and set those manually. If it

doesn't work with the 5750 fully recognized that might be the cause.

Yes, I have done it before. In fact right now I am folding on a linux computer that has both an AMD and Nvidia GPU installed.

that was my original plan, have a gtx 650 and the 5750 running but the mobo i was gonna use crapped out on me, and the gtx 650 is possibly also dead

I do this with a GTX 970 & GTX 760 it worked instantly but it might be because my mobo rocks xD
