Building a gaming pc for 900$ (my first) is this good or bad.

hjalli3
Go to solution Solved by hjalli3,

Don't want to cheap out on the PSU. Just saying. The one I gave you is much more reliable.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/RDf4rH there we go... It´s done. Thank you so much, do I mark this post as solved?

I'm gonna take a guess and say this is where I post things like this if it's not then I'll deal with it later. So I've wanted to get into pc gaming for awhile now so I saved up some money and started researching how to build a pc, after many hours spent watching youtube reviews and other things like that I came up with this build.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/V6NqTW

Since this is my first build I would rather delay buying the parts and ask people that have much more experience than me if this will actually work rather than building it and then have one part not work with all the others. My main goal with this was to get a computer that can run the oculus rift when that comes out. So does this work? is a 120gb SSD good enough? what HHD should I get? are there any bottlenecks? Should I go for a better cpu cooler? Is the computer worth the money I'm paying for? how do I connect the usb ports and 3.5mm jack that's on the case? oh and I already have a 750w power supply so I didn't put that on the list. I'm also wondering weather I should go for an MSI B150A or a ASUS B150 motherboard.

P.S I'm going for a red build so what red LED fans do you recommend? I'm obsessed with LED's and I need them everywhere.

Thank you in advance.

Replace CPU cooler with something better, not push-pin.

Get a Z170 board.

GET A DIFFERENT SSD.

For VR, Oculus Rift, nothing's going to be that great.

I'd say get a 390 and throw another in when you can afford it.

Just a few things. Are you overclocking? You'd need a Z170 for that. Change out the SSD and grab the 390 instead.

First of all, you have a K CPU, which means it will overclock. Get an X99 or Z170 board instead (those ones let you overclock).

If you are not looking to overclock, get a non K cpu.

Get a better cooler like the Hyper 212 EVO.

That SSD has a good capacity for a boot drive, but to store games and stuff you will need more space.

Good build here, OP.

Drive space Is far from enough, minimum 1TB. Also, wheres your OS?

I'm sure they are planning to get a 1TB drive later on.

120GB will be enough for a short while.

OP, you can also get a 1TB HDD now and get an SSD later on.

The H7 is much better than the 212 EVO, and for only $10 more, it's definitely worth it. The 212 EVO is becoming less frequently recommended because there are other better choices.
