Its a really strange noise, its quite loud too. It sounds like the fans because when the fans spin up, thats when I hear it. Its a MSI GTX 970.

I've only tested the noise using Battlefield 4. I think when the noise stops thats when the fan stops (The fans sometimes turn off for a second, and then kick back in) and when I close the game, the fan keeps spinning but its silent.

The computer currently has no side panel because the gpu is too wide, could this be a reason its squeeling?

also, it doesnt sound like coil whine, its more like an electric fan noise.

Help ;,( I dont want anything to break, and want to make sure its all safe.

As if any other cards would not suffer from coil whine... and since when has coil whine to do with the chip??

When I close the came, it just instantly stops squeeling, its not like it gets quieter as the fans slow down.

Doesn´t answer my question. Since when does coil while has to do with the chip? It has to do with the cards capacitors. And I´ve owned 3 GTX980s so far and I´ve got a GTX970... neither of them whined or whines. And so don´t my Titan Xs either. But I´ve also owned R9 290Xs before and both had mild coil whine... but nothing concerning. Most cards that whine run better with a FPS limiter and they usually settle down a bit with the whinning after a few weeks from my experience.

Coil whine comes and goes. Same with mine. June was silent, July wasn't. August was. September was. October and November weren't .

Haha already sold 2 of those GTX980s long time ago and I wouldn´t dare to touch the GTX970 now, for it is the card I´ve build into my girl friend´s rig (it´s technically mine but shhhh :D ) unless I give her one of my Titan Xs lol.
