Hey,

My brother braught home a disabled kid from the place he is voluntering in.

The kid can not speak, and can barerly move, and to "say" things, he points on letters on a piece of paper.

I wondered if there is an eye tracking software for letters to make it easier for him to "speak".

If you know anything, write it down.

I have a laptop with a webcam to test it on.

Thanks!

Well yeah, Intel made something I think. But IIRC it requires special hardware and only Stephen Hawking currently uses it I think :P

Check this out. I don't know if it is released but I think there was something like this at CES last year as well. Its worth looking into.

was thinking about that, would be possible, but pretty expensive atm

i agree, but this technology will get better and cheaper with time. So even if it is not available now, its good to see that progress is being made. this will be so useful for people in that kind of situation.

that`s indeed really cool for stuff like that, didn`t really understand why you`d need that, but there are applications for it.\

But regarding his question, no idea

to game or not to game, that`s the question

A cool idea for gamers is to have the game display ultra fine details where you are looking, and normal details and textures everywhere else, since you dont need full detail in your peripheral vision.

damn, you thought about that real good ;p

But that does need some processing horsepower and is partial resolution improvement even possible to this date?

I cant think of any game that currently supports it, but that's not to say that it couldn't happen in future games. Yes it would take some horsepower, but the advantage of doing that is it wont take as much power as running the entire screen on ultra detail settings.

that`s true, but the monitors will soon all be atleast 4K and we`ll all be able to run that with intergrated graphics (LOL) I think and powering it in the future will become easier

Yes, but integrated graphics at 4K isn't going to happen soon. So for now its a useful idea, but in the future it wont be necessary.
