Yes it is if it gets to much for the chip it will automatically thermal throttle and you will notice a loss in performance :)

 

If it really matters to you add in a few more case fans or turn up the RPM on existing ones

He doesn't need to. 80*C for a 390X is nothing really. The silicone is made competently and can easily withstand 80*C. Were it the GTX 480, I'd be calling it frozen.

TitanZ thermal throttles at 80*C because it's a different chip.

480 could easily reach 110*C

Increase fan speeds if you feel like it.

Personally, F@H seems like wasting your own time and money via power bills for nothing useful but that's just me
