First Build Tips and Tricks

Go to solution Solved by iJarbus,

Like others have said a bare table would be better, as for sole general tips:

- set aside a few hours for your first build its better to take it slow.

- build everything outside the case first, just place the motherboard on the box it came in and do a quick post test.

- if your computer doesn't post initially don't freak out allot of people's don't, just check each power connector and check that RAM is seated correctly. More often than not this is the issue.

Hope this helps, if you need help feel free to PM me, good luck.

i have personally recently bought my gaming computer parts and i was looking for tips in the building stage. Mainly for computer safety. one of my big questions is weather a table cloth would help reduce the chance of ESD (Electro static discharge). and otherwise i am looking for general tips and tricks for the build.

Thanks for the help.

Tablet cloth would increase friction which increases static. I work on just a wood table.

As Luc401 said. Cloth friction creates static electricity. Work on something made out of wood, rubber or built to not build up static.

Theory is when you know everything but nothing works. Practice is when everything works but you dont know why. In this computer, theory and practice are combined: Nothing works and i dont know why.

Atleast i can manage Some things, like my current OC personal best.

Nice case, prefer bigger cases myself as I know it's ME that has to build it, lol... don't like ITX much as it's too small. I would wear some rubber gloves to save your hands a bit when trying to build inside the case, would help a bit with not building up static too. Oh, might just be me (only had a quick look), but that looks like it's going to be a pain to clean the dust off the intake as you have to remove the front panel, hope you have somewhere relatively PC friendly where it's not going to suck in dust like a vaccuum cleaner :)
