Title says all.

What do u do with the jumpers.

Use a metal object such as a screwdriver or paper clip to bridge the two jumpers together.

Make sure the computer is off and unplugged.

Connect the jumpers together with something made out of metal and start the pc. You could also remove the battery while the pc is off this will reset the cmos settings also.

Try searching for the manual online for your specific motherboard, there should be a section on clearing cmos

First and foremost, if you get image and can access BIOS, just do that and load factory defaults. It's the same thing without the risk of damage.

How you would go about clearing the CMOS, varies by motherboard. So check your manual. Because you'll have to unplug the computer and then:

  • All motherboards have a battery which either has to or must not be removed. (can be soldered on in OEM systems!)
  • Some have a button that you need to press but most don't.
  • The ones without buttons, have contacts for jumpers. There may or may not be jumpers. There definitely can be jumpers/contacts other than the one that clears the CMOS.
  • You may need to do the jumper and the battery or one or the other might be enough.
  • You'll have to flush the system out of any residual current byt holding the power on for an amount of time.
  • There will be no indicator for whether it cleared or not. Until perhaps, when you power the system back up and get a message.

If you are trying to clear you CMOS to access your bios because you are getting a black screen when entering it is most likely you monitor res isnt supported by your bios. I have a normal 1920x1080 monitor but i cant access the bios with this monitor but when i plug it into my 768p tv i can enter the bios. Dont know why i cant access it in 1080 but i recommend trying a different monitor as i cleared the CMOS and couldn't get into my computer for some reason and had to give it to my tech savy neighbour to fix. Hope this helps
