Best gtx 970

Go to solution Solved by App4that,

I'm a huge fan of the FTW, not sure how it effects things on the 970 though. I know it's bad ass with the 980.

I'm looking into a new graphics card. I can't afford a 980 and I don't like amd cards. So i've decided on the gtx 970. I've been looking for a gtx 970 and I can't decide witch one to get. I want a really good performing and good looking card since I am doing a red build in a s340.

Amd fx-6300 | Msi 970a g46 | Evga gtx 970 ssc | Adata 8gb 1600 mhz | H80i Water cooling | Seagate 1tb 7200 rpm | Corsair cx500 | Nzxt s340 black/red | Steelseries rival | Corsair K70 RGB | Steelseries qck+ | Benq xl2430t 1 ms 144hz

I mean there are some perfect red r9 380s/390s.

edit: to answer your question, I think MSI has a good red 970.

I'm kind of a nvidia fanboy tbh but I also like the geforce experience.

Both EVGA and MSI have great customer service, but I'd go for the SSC if I was you if overclocking is a concern.

what about the ftw?

Sigh... The amd R9 390 trades blows with the 970, and in some cases it is cheaper and many of those cards are red.

it gives it the same clock speed as the superclocked 980

I have tested msi, asus strix, and gigabyte. So far, the msi came up on top

• OS: Windows 10/10 Pro  • SSD: Samsung 256GB 850 Evo Series *  • HDD: Seagate 1TB  • GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1070 GAMING X (SLI)

The FTW usually shows the best stock overclocks in the tests I've seen. It's a bit bland looks wise but a liberal use of case lighting fixes that right up. And last I checked the 970 FTW did not have LEDs. But I keep getting conflicting reports on that.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

I think it has a led on the side of the card where it says ftw

That's what I thought, but I was told it didn't.

If it was my money I'd go for this.

I would go for that one too but I don't have the money for that one. Is there any difference either then the backplate between ftw and ftw+. I am planning to put a backplate in the future anyways.

Actually the FTW+ is probably the best choice. It has a beefier cooler too.

whats the difference between the two coolers?

The FTW+ is just beefier (more aluminum and longer overall) and it's clocked higher by default.

Still recommend you get a 390, it's a great card. But if you like Nvidia, the 970 is a solid as well. But based on my profile you can tell I like AMD cards.
