1.) no need for that huge case (but if you like it go with it)

2.) Consider a 390 for maybe a few extra fps (but there's nothing wrong with the 970).

3.) if you like to spend another 70$ for a 250gb ssd, this would improve overall loading times a lot

4.) get an aftermarket cooler if you want to overclock the cpu

But all in all pretty solid build:D

Since you have the budget I got you skylake since it is newer and a little better. It also comes with ddr4 ram that has really high memory bandwidth as well. R9 390 is a little better so added that too. Also got a CPU cooler since the 6600k doesn't come with one and you need one to get a good overclock. All in all a good build. If you are willing to go another 100 bucks up for an r9 390x I would recommend the power color devil r9 390x. It's water cooled too so you can overclock it a lot. Also got you a different case, you really don't need a full tower, this case is very good and highly modular so if you ever need to swap out drive bays or other stuff it is very easy to do.

Saw you had $1200 as your budget so this is only really if you are willing to spend that much. If not, then go with your own suggested build with a 390.

Thanks to everyone with the replies.

I would swap out the GTX 970 for a 390 but that's really all I would do.

A few of you have said that so ill swap that out.

You said you need a copy of windows.

I do need a copy of windows. I dont know what is the best buy for it. So many versions with varying prices.

I bought an SSD. I dont know the difference between a 5 vs 3 MOBO. Is a 3 better?

I am willing to go up to 1200 if parts I have listed are no good but i do like around 1000 for this build. I read that the full tower I picked out is very easy to work in compared to some reviews of a mid tower being difficult to work with. This is my first ever build so I want to make sure there is some wiggle room for my newbie hands.

You don't need to worry about mid tower being harder. My first build was a mid tower and I had no problems with the case. I would recommend the cooler master Mastercase pro 5 for your case if you are going for one around 100-150 bucks, it has excellent airflow and is very modular so you can swap out hard drive bays and front I/O shield very easily, though if you want one cheaper at around 50-70 both the nzxt s340 and corsair 200r are great options.
