Water Cooled GPU or SLI

EpicNinja
Go to solution Solved by Najuno,

Also, after a bit of research, I've found the 750 series isn't SLI compatible, but my 760 is.

Well honestly if you have already a GTX760 and you could get another one for a reasonable price, I´d get the 2nd 760 and call it a day. Make sure your PSU can support the extra Wattage demand though.

As the next upgrade in my build, I wanted to be able to run a couple of my more intense games with higher settings. I have a low overclock on my GPU right now, but the temperature gets up there pretty fast.

My two choices for the upgrade are this; 1) Buy and install the Corsair GPU Hydro cooling kit (~$140), or 2) Buy a second nVidia GPU to run with my main card. Any thoughts?

My Build-

AMD FX6300 @ 4.0ghz with H100i GTX Liquid cooler

nVidia GeForce GTX 760 (+110 Core Clock) air cooled

Corsair 500w PSU

A second 760 would be better. You might get some slight bottlenecking, though.

Buy another card, you'll get a lot more extra performance with that than just a watercool overclock. However, you can expect a pretty bad bottleneck with that 6300, so it's a wash either way.

Thank you for the fast reply. I won't have enough money for a second 760. Any recommendations as to what card might work for around the $100 to $175 range?

Also, is there any way to get rid of the bottlenecking?

You can try to score a used 280x or 750 Ti.

The only way to get rid of the CPU bottleneck is by either overclocking further, or getting a new CPU. (I think OCing will be enough)

I have it overclocked to 4.0 Ghz, but if I go any further, my computer freezes when I test with Prime95 Torture Test.

Also, after a bit of research, I've found the 750 series isn't SLI compatible, but my 760 is.
