that's quite a budget

i would get:

-I7 5820k (6 core beast for rendering) (so also new mobo + ram)

-new PSU (850W or 1000W)

-dual 980ti

-1440p for gaming, and keep that 1080p, it will come in handy when doing that creation stuff

and ofc an SSD

i realy dont see why he needs a new gpu at 1080 cause a single titan is fine at 1080p but heres what i woud do

get a 980 ti

acer predator x34 monitor

an ssd like a big and nice one

and to save money he could get a 2600k which would be fine but if he really wants to throw money aound like its nothing than get a 6700k

My Cheap But Good Rig: I7-3770s, Intel Motherboard (actually made by intel), 16gb DDR3, Nvidia Gtx 1070, 250gb Samsung 850 EVO SSD, 750gb HDD, Evga 500 BR power supply

The thing is he says that Arma3 is really CPU demanding and for content creation a better cpu would also be something thats why he did not upgrade since 2years and is now going all out :D

Here's what I would recommend:

CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor ($319.99 @ Micro Center)

CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i GTX 70.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($99.99 @ Amazon)

Motherboard: Asus X99-A ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard ($238.99 @ SuperBiiz)

Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Memory ($164.99 @ Newegg)

Storage: Samsung 950 PRO 512GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($329.99 @ Amazon)

Storage: Western Digital Red 6TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive ($249.00 @ Adorama)

Storage: Western Digital Red 6TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive ($249.00 @ Adorama)

Case: Fractal Design Define S w/Window ATX Mid Tower Case ($69.99 @ NCIX US)

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 OEM (64-bit) ($89.89 @ OutletPC)

Monitor: Acer XB270HU bprz 144Hz 27.0" Monitor ($760.28 @ Amazon)

Mouse: Mionix Castor Wired Optical Mouse ($69.99 @ Amazon)

Total: $2642.10

Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts

Note the fact that I did not add a new GPU.

The GTX Titan should be fine for 1080p video editing and 1440p gaming. I added a nice G-Sync 1440p IPS monitor for gaming I would keep that 1080p monitor for editing. I added a Mionix Castor for gaming but if you want you can also get a Logitech MX Master for editing. 32GB of RAM will be more than enough for beginner's editing. Windows 10 isn't worth the annoying security fails. Existing PSU should be more than enough. Define S = great airflow. WD Red drives = low power, reliability, lots of storage. The M.2 SSD should be VERY fast for games and oS and in-progress video projects.

Thanks man. Will show him your recommendation.

So you would not update to Windows 10?
