Windows 10 Setup stuck at 0% on "Getting Updates"

kgorringe

Im trying to upgrade to windows 10 on my new PC i built, and last night it said "getting updates" and took hours, s I went to sleep and let it run overnight.

Today I saw it was done and I had to agree to some EULA.

After clicking Accept, I was greeted by the EXACT same loading screen (Getting Updates) but now there is a percentage.

It's been an hour now and the percentage is hanging at 0%.

HALP.

Stop that Windows 10 upgrade via Windows Update.

Download the tool from here, Then upgrade from there.

Uncheck the check for updates while in the first screen.

It went up to 22% i think it actually freed itself.

Id rather get updates now then later when i actually want to use the pc.

Upgrade time will be longer if large number of updates are available.

Although imo, I'll just perform Clean Installation of Windows 10 for cleaner and faster response.

Upgraded Windows 10 will have much junk, registry junks and some leftovers from previous OS that could potentially cause the Windows SlOW performance.

He still needs to go through the upgrade path to enjoy free upgrade to win10.

It will be stupid for him to clean install win 10, and it asks him for a non existant key. And no, you cannot activate win 10 by keying in your win 7 key.

After you upgrade to win 10 from either 7 or 8.1 and activate, could you reinstall win 10 without the key.

Guys, please stop telling everyone to straight install win 10. The upgrade path needs to be preserved.

I'm aware of that.

I told this because he said he rather download all the updates while upgrade process, when Clean Install happens after that, he is gonna lose all the updates and gonna have to go through all the updates again.
