I'm looking to get a new phone and the Nexus 4 looks really promising. With rumours of the Nexus 5 coming out, I'm not sure if I should get the 4 now or wait.

Apparently the Nexus 5 will be bigger than the already huge Nexus 4, is it by a big difference though?

Thanks for any input. :)

edit : With Back-To-School phone deals, I could get a cheaper plan now. What should I do?

The Nexus 4 is already an amazing phone. If you can get it for cheaper, then go for it. Besides, I think a 5"+ screen on a phone is a little on the big side. Shit, just give the Nexus 10 the ability to call and put that in your pocket.

I've had a nexus 4 and it was the most amazing phone I have had so far! fast, highly root-able, cheap and loads of support.

but if your in the market for a new phone now I wouldn't go for the nexus 4 since it is coming towards the end of it's life and the nexus 5 seems VERY promising.

I have a GS4, and a 5" screen isn't THAT big. You get used to it.

Nexus phones aren't always top of the line, so I wouldn't expect HTC One / SG4 / Note 3 tier phone.

I am on the same boat as you mate. I need a new smartphone that at least has a 720p display but I am on a pretty tight bugdet of around 250$. Now that Google has cut 100$ off the Nexus 4 I was on the edge of buying one. But, when I saw the specs and the pricing of the upcoming Nexus 5 I didn't want the Nexus 4 anymore. The Nexus 5 is rumoured to come out on late October 2013 and it is going to retail for 300$ and it has 2 GB RAM, 1080p 5inch IPS display with a 2.25 quad core CPU and it will be running stock Android 5.0 also known as lime pie. You can also get it on contract with less than 100$. It is so much better. But if you know off the bat that you are not willing to spend 300$ for a smartphone then go for the Nexus 4. Otherwise wait for the Nexus 5, as I will.

Hope it helped!

This did help a lot! Thanks.

Thank you also to everyone else for their input. I will be able to get the Nexus 4 for $0 on a 2 year contract, $35 a month. Will the extra money on a Nexus 5 really be worth it? I'm not looking for a huge powerhouse, anything is better than my current phone (HTC Wildfire S).

Would a more powerful phone with a 1080p screen really benefit me? I don't use my current phone much other than texting, a occasional call, and light games once in a while. I can't stand watching movies on a screen that small either. :P

So just keep waiting?

Beware of crap ass battery life on nexus 4, wait like me

3-5 hours of use time doesn't seem that bad to me, definitely better than my current phone. :P But yes I suppose it's a good idea to wait, doesn't hurt. I really do want a new phone now though...

What if it has a 4.3" 720p phone with a Snapdragon dual core processor, will you still buy it?

There's no reason they'd put a 720p screen on the new Nexus 5.

Even then, if it was the same price as the Nexus 4 or at least a reasonable price, I'd definitely still buy it.

google has a thing of making epic things at cheap prices and the nexus is a great example

personaly id wait for a nexus 5 if i had the money for it

but what im gona do is wait for the nexus 5 to comeout then get a nexus 4 when prices are a whole lot cheaper especialy if people might be selling their nexus 4 for the new 5

Source?

Don't need a source for the better performance or better camera, it's a given but the nexus 5 is just a rumor so just google it.
