I have R9 290x twin frozr, its a nice card btw but I'm worried about the temps I'm facing with when it comes to gaming. I always reach 94 celcius from playing GTA V, Far Cry 4...etc but the card is not thermal throttling. I did even put 120mm fans below it but doesnt make change. What should I do to make them temp lower?

Specs:
Case: Corsair 450D
Motherboard: Z97 MPower Max AC
CPU: 4790K

CPU Cooler: Corsair H110
GPU: R9 290x

Power Supply: Corsair CS650M
Ram: Corsair Vengeance 16 GB (2 x 8 GB)
Hard Drives:
1 Crucial 120 GB
1 Seagate 2.5 500 GB
1 WD Green 3.5 2 TB

screw afterburner. set it up in the ccc.  you can set a fan curve but i found it works better to start at 37-42% at idle and leave it that way. constant fan speed from the start will make the card run cooler quicker vs letting the fan ramp up as the card gets hot.

the fan noise doesnt bother me, leaving the fan in that speed (42) at 100% gpu load can't make the life of gpu last longer.

you're complaining about heat yet you won't give my suggestion a try. you'll be watching the temps right? so what do you have to lose? nothing. it might surprise you............ and 42% was just a starting suggestion.............. and I know what i'm saying works because i;ve done it.

I'm just afraid in staying 42% all the time, even in 100% load. whats your gpu?

the 290 is a sapphire oem fan type ( one fan in the rear ).

and it's not going to hurt running the fan steady. if you don't want to try it, don't. all i can do is give you information i'm familiar with.

Open the Crimson software and in the global OverDrive settings, set the target temperature you want (I set mine to 80C) and set the target fan speed to 100%. Give your card a good clean and make sure nothing is obstructing the fans from spinning and that the heatsink is free of dust. Also make sure the card has a good airflow path, meaning not only does it get fresh air, but it has a way to exhaust it as well.
