I mean, yeah if you have $350 to spend. What's the specs of the rest of your laptop? Maybe the laptop itself is just shit?

imo it's only worth it to get a 120-250 GB ssd if you have hhd for example if you have a desktop

for laptops it's better to get sshd

i have an SSD in my pc and i have a 12 second boot time :-) i think its worth it but if your laptop is older that maybe not...

The laptop is only a few months old cost me heaps and I'm getting disappointed with the boot up times and the game loading screens

If the price is an issue you can simply get a 250GB SDD for cheap and then use an external drive/usb stick for whatever you don't access daily.

I have to second this. 250 GB is pretty large for a non-gaming system and then you can use a 2TB external for holding movies, tv shows, and other stuff you're not planning on using that day.

What games are you trying to play? The loading times aren't just about trying to read off the disk. It's also about initializing everything in the game world, which is dependent on the speed and number of threads in your cpu.

I have a laptop with a 5400 rpm 1TB hard drive, the drive is glacially slow but is it worth paying for a terabyte SSD to get everything up to speed?

I third this because buying a 1 TB SSD and not filling it up immediately and most likely not all data from it will be used often will be a waste of money especially since SSDs are dropping in price as time goes by and also new technologies are arising.

^This.

If your laptop doesn't have expansion to get an m.2 drive, just get a WD Black2. 120GB SSD with a 1TB HDD in a 2.5" drive.

Worth is a relative term. If it's worth it to you, it's worth it to you. There really isn't anything that everyone will agree on. If it was me, I'd buy the 1TB SSD.

If I have my games on an external drive how will that impact the loading times for it?

I wouldn't install games to an external drive, USB will probably be slow as hell. I forgot most internet access has data caps in AUS, so I guess just downloading from Steam every time you want to reinstall a game isn't a great option. You might be better off buying a 500 GB drive then if you have lots of games to install, though 250 GB would be great if it was just Titanfall and then a few other small games like CS:GO or LOL.
