Hello everyone. I got my GPU overclocked and i was using firestrike to 'verify my overclock'. I was going to run Aida64 for like 15 minutes but it crashes almost as soon as i start it. What should i do? (MSI Radeon R9 270X Hawk @ 1495MHZ w/ +50 voltage limit)

aida 64 is a cpu test so it is a cpu instability

you are partially wrong, you can stress the GPU also, but not graphically intense things.

My CPU is at stock (FX-8320 and i know i can go 4.7Ghz stable so its not that)

well first of all i wouldnt be using aida64 to stress gpu.. i would be using unigine heaven or valley

also was it a driver crash or bsod?

Something is clearly unstable. Go in setting and enable voltage monitoring and control. That should help you get extra headroom.

Also, use firestrike, heaven and valley to validate overclocks, instead of aida 64.

So while overclocking should i leave my voltages where they are and just do core clock until i get the highest score and then do voltages?

You will have to adjust your Voltage along with your PT in order to achieve a stable higher OC. Once you are going for a real high OC you would need a modded BIOS with enhanced PT and different Voltage. Also your cooling solution would have to change in order to prevent the chip, memory, MC or VRM from getting fried.

Your score got higher after you turned down a bit, because every card, chip reaches as sweet spot and a maximum point of OCing, it might OC even further but the result degenerates already again, because your over your allowed limits. Usually that´s caused by too less PT or Voltage.

Intel i7 7820X (delidded) @ 4.9GHz - MSI X299 M7 ACK + EKWB Fullcover Block - G.Skill Trident Z 32GB @ 3466MHz - nVidia Titan Xp + EKWB Fullcover Block @ 2.1GHz - Samsung 960Pro 2x - WDD Blue 2TB - Seasonic 750W Platinum - modded Corsair 600C - Hardtubed Custom Watercooling
