Good evening!

I was wondering if my PPD with my cpu is normal. Currently I'm getting an estimated 1882 points per day for my. I'm not sure if this is normal since it is a six core, and I'd think having a bunch more cores would increase the performance by quite alot. I know my cpu isn't the greatest, but I had atleast expected a tad more points. My GPU on the other hand is doing great, with an estimated 232299 points per day.

If this performance for my processor isn't what is to be expected, how would I go about improving it? Thanks in advance.

Yea it's not worth doing both GPU and CPU folding. The CPU barely makes points compared to a GPU. I leave my CPU out of folding and do full GPU folding

Hm, alright. Thanks for the info. I'll still keep my cpu running probably, since it only takes two hours to complete a work unit. And every bit helps right? :P

It does indeed but IMO it's not worth. If you want to do it that's up to you :D (Don't forget to let 1 or 2 cores free for the GPU while folding with both cpu and gpu)

I don't have to pay for the power anyway haha

Ah the beauty of youth.  ;)

Jokes aside, honestly it isn't worth it to fold on the CPU. you could net more points using your CPU to fold with the chrome folding app think it's something like 100+ points per 15min work unit.

*3 cores, in this case. Your 6300 only has 3 FPU units, which are used for calculations.

Does F@H not use hyper threads?

?

The FX has no HT.

it depends on how much floating point precision the work fahCore uses. if it only requires a 128 bit floating point unit on the cpu work units, then it will behave as a 6 core, as each 256 bit floating point unit can behave as two 128 bit floating point units for each respective core.

CPU for me makes around 10k~ points on it's own with only 3 threads and about 17-20k with 7 threads.  I think that's good enough to let it run :P

it's worth it I think, low PPD but it adds up, my QX6800 does 1100 about per WU on 3 cores (because of my 950 using 1 core), it takes about 4 hours but that's almost  6,600 ponts a day and my 6 core 3960X uses 10 threads (because 2 are for my 960s) and does between 1800 and 2200 per WU and averages about 2 hours per WU, and that's 21,600-26,400 per day, it adds up for sure and it doesn't really make a difference in your graphics card PPDs. So I'd say do it

CPU: Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition 3960X | Motherboard: Intel DX79SR "Stormville" | RAM: 32GB G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series DDR3 PC3-12800 (4x 8GB) Quad-Channel | GPU: 2x EVGA GTX 970 FTW 4GB in SLI (I have Many other builds plus 100+ Macs (don't judge me)... Many specs are listed on my profile)
