Q6600 memory support

Go to solution Solved by Gikero,

It probably won't work as the pentium d  requires a different chipsets than the q6600 even though they use the same socket.

It works.

I had 4 X 2GB Samsung DDR2 800 RAM. I can't remember the model number off the top of my head.

As stated the northbridge controls the memory support, so if it worked with one it will work with the other (unless it's ddr2-400mhz but its not so i wont go into it).

@Kivi memory support in socket 775 depends on the northbridge, for that MB is DDR2.

Also check your BIOS version for the CPU, and if you need a BIOS update check carefully your MB revision before downloading

That MB model doesn't show up on gigabyte's site... are you sure that's the name? Don't you mean GA-965G-DS3?

Oh yeah its GA-965-DS3

DDR2? Old and bad

Pentium D? Old and bad

2x2GB? Takes too much RAM slots for too little memory

GTX 750? Worthless

Heres some advice:

UPGRADE YOUR COMPUTER

Firstly, not everyone can afford a high end PC. I JUST upgraded this year from a DDR2 based system. I build my PCs to lasts as long as possible. Secondly, he stated he was upgrading. If you are going to ignore the post and then be a jerk, go do it somewhere else. Read the CoC.

Oh yeah set its GA-965-DS3

My previous link states that you're good. Update your BIOS before the CPU switch.

Ok I see thank u (this is just a secondary system) so if it won't work i will be still ok (I have an I7 4790+asrock fatality h97 and an Asus DCII r9 280x and 8 gigabytes of corsair memory but that's besides the point) so tnx once again
