Hey i was looking for suggestions on my skylake pc build. Im really into gaming and looking for a good gaming/rendering/streaming performance computer and aesthetics (looks cool).

This is what i have come up with my self. Looking to spend 2000 CAD$ i know the build is approx 2,200 CAD$ but sales and stuff change the price from time to time.

check out the build:

Let me know what you think.

If you have any suggestions please post and thank you for your time.

This will be my first pc build so nothing crazy like custom water cooling  :D

once again thank you for your time. Much appreciated

as a first PC build

i will suggest going for air cooling first

drop the Gaming board as the normal Asus mobo will do the same job for cheaper price

unless you are SLi later

drop the PSU to 600Watts at most

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Gaming only?

While you have a decent budget, I'd:

  • Replace the Seagate with a Western Digital or HGST
  • Swap out the i7 for an i5
  • Up the 980 to a 980 Ti
  • Take another look at the motherboard. Do you really need all the features? If not, get a cheaper board.
  • Get a PSU that's on sale

Looks solid though. Honestly, I'd look at getting something else. My friends brother had a budget of $2,000 and I got him:

  • 5820k
  • 32GB RAM
  • 250GB SSD
  • 2TB HDD
  • R9 390
  • More expensive case
  • G2 PSU

So sales can net you better rigs. If you don't need Skylake or the features that the 170 chipset provides I wouldn't bother with it.

Its also a work station (rendering videos/streaming..) I went with the core i7 due to it having hyper threading as the i5 does not. Thanks for your suggestions i will start to fix my build.

Thank you for taking the time to help me.

Have you considered a Xeon?

You'd lose a little in the gaming aspect, but if the money you save is spent on a better graphics card it might negate that.
