It can help with the amount of mods you are running for a game (if you are modding) but that's about it.

Yes it is... There is a difference between how much Vram is used, and how much is actually needed.

CD Projekt Red did a fantastic job managing GPU memory in Witcher 3. The game use as much Vram is necessary, and clear the storage space once data is no longer needed.

How it should be: http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/the_witcher_3_graphics_performance_review,9.html

COD:BO3 is an abomination of a game engine. The game simply runs like ass.

The Titan 6GB uses about 100% on 4K, the 980Ti 6GB uses about 5GB on 4K and the 390x 8GB uses about 5GB in 4k... and in 1440p... and in 1080p.

How it should not be: http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/call_of_duty_black_ops_iii_vga_graphics_performance_benchmark_review,9.html

When the game actually needs more VRam than what is available the FPS goes down to bellow 5, regardless of how powerful your core is and with little or no regard to the speed of your system memory. When a game runs as shitty as BO3 it should be taken outside and shot. No flowers please.

So to answer the original question. Yes, more Vram is beneficial but only if the game actually needs it.
