Hook a PS2 up to a computer monitor?

What? the HDMI is the output, as it clearly says on the adapter. The signal input is the red/white/yellow cable, that converts it to the HDMI output which will create the image on your monitor.

Both sides of an HDMI-cable are the same so I don't get it why the input/output of the HDMI itself is so important?

None of the images on the link have the HDMI as an input.
