The PSU yes... but it's totally worth it as I won't go Corsair CX even for this!  ^_^ It's because it's platinum, no extra cables and it's 400W.

That'd be fine :D

Great!  ^_^

Yes I been thinking Noctua fans but I didn't include it...

none of the default ones are bad, you can just get a lot quieter ones for a few bucks on amazon

You can save by getting an B85 motherboard instead with a Celeron and a traditional SATA3 SSD with the same speed but double the capacity and you don't need dual channel memory since it will just be for office use.

CPU: Intel Celeron G1820 2.7GHz Dual-Core Processor  ($36.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B85M-DS3H-A Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($50.88 @ OutletPC)
Memory: A-Data XPG V1.0 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($34.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($77.88 @ OutletPC)
Case: Cooler Master N200 MicroATX Mid Tower Case  ($42.99 @ NCIX US)
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer  ($18.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $408.59
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

PS: I checked the motherboard and it will work with the Pentium right out of the box so dont worry about that flag from PCPartPicker.

250gb is too much for office. but more space is never bad! yes you are right, about the dual thing. single works even good and even 8gb is too much but its that breathing room. and celeron? is that reliable? hmm i will check it out and yes. and the mobo, it dont have m.2 and i really hate cables so m.2 is a must.

thanks for the tips! i will figure out before Christmas!

It is a well regarded CPU for browsing, office productivity, light games, movie watching and etc. :) Also regarding the SSD, would it really be a problem? Your case has no windowed side panel so you won't be able to see it.

Seem very great for what its meant to do! i add that in instead of the Pentium thanks! also isnt the cpu cooler maybe too much? now that i think of it it might be better with stock? as it wont ever go 100%? or stock isnt very reliable/breaks easy?

but the h97-e stays with its easy bios for me to fix things if something go wrong (its for a non techie) and the m.2 support making office work FAST and no cables... i also changed to 1 4gb stick. the xms3 is great i heard!

Then it's confirmed! I got it sorted out! And for 400$, yet i dont live in usa or so but it should be kinda okay! that is true, the 212 evo is a bit overkill! but the stocks i had (2 of them) just fails to start! maybe even celeron will be able to go passive cooling  who knows but stock is fine.

sure, its much more powerful. but one day maybe you understand that powerful is not all  ^_^ also 8gb on 1600mhz is too much. the cpu (celeron) only support 1333mhz on memory. so thats why i did that.

also understand that the motherboard was there because of the ease of asus bios and m.2 drive for as little cables as possible. the i3 is too much. it will never be used for anything that the celeron cant do. and the graphics card...will never come to use either way.

why spend 80$ more if it wont be used. and that broze powersuplly, sure its safesonic but 520?

you maybe didnt understand the reason for this build plan.

man,wtf

getting an i3 will help if in the future more office apps start utilize hyperthreading

also the psu is fine for that price, a platinum psu for that use is way too much, even a CX/CSM (oh god, yes i said it) would be fine for an office build

about the bronze seasonic psu, that you dont seem to like:

*cough*

I do not think that i3 will make a person write faster... you can even run office apps on a pentium 4 with 512mb memory...

the psu is great. but why have 520W of useless power when it's not planned to even get a gpu inside. if seasonic made a psu that is platinum fanless at 250W i would get that as well.

its not a pc for me. its for a person that will do some office stuff, write some emails, maybe listen to some music.

also it has a ssd. its perfect for office use. and dual core is enough. 120gb is enough.

so thanks for helping but it is not meant to be a powerful workhorse...

well that is  your point of view. of course you can use a p4 for office apps, if you want everything to stop responding every once in a while, but thats ok.

you could remove the gpu from my build and add a skylake i3 instead of the haswell, for a cheaper price, like this

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/gqKfXL

imo, you should get whatever it has more performance per dollar, but w/e, i am not the one who is buying/building this pc.

good luck with the build :)

well that is  your point of view. of course you can use a p4 for office apps, if you want everything to stop responding every once in a while, but thats ok.

you could remove the gpu from my build and add a skylake i3 instead of the haswell, for a cheaper price, like this

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/gqKfXL

imo, you should get whatever it has more performance per dollar, but w/e, i am not the one who is buying/building this pc.

good luck with the build :)

i dont see a pc with dual core, ssd and 4gb of ram stop responding while doing some office apps. sure it wont go as you hook up a i7 and pci ssd with 64gb 3866mhz ram...but... its a jump start to a good pc that has big future plans (if the person want to) i mean you can put a high end pc in there if you want. but i dont think that ms word will be so much better.  ^_^

the skylake is cool but also a bit pointless seeing to what the pc will be used for. i tried a pentium haswell with 4gb single channel and a mechanical hdd it did hold up o k a y.

also if something breaks after 3-4 years... it wont cost too much to replace it. there will still be haswell out for sale and buying a cpu thats 40 $ to get all working again is not bad!

i personally dont like low end systems... but i see the reason for it

 happy holiday!  :P
