Stock Intel Cooler Bottleneck?

Go to solution Solved by Enderman,

CPU cooler has nothing to do with the % load

programs running on your PC cause load

Kinda a noob question. I've got the stock intel cooler still on my 4690k and I'm wondering if it's the bottleneck to my CPU as far as CPU load % goes? In GTA V I'm usually floating between 95 and 100% and I'm wondering if I replace my stock cooler with something like an H100i and overclock my CPU, if that'll alleviate some of the CPU load? Thanks for helping a noob out :D1I1fMAN.png

You mean throttling. Your CPU may become toasty with the stock cooler, but It's fine under normal conditions/operations.

What is your "idle" cpu usage?

EDIT: Also thermals don't have anything to do with load unless it starts throttling.

A hyper 212 evo (Or other cooler) will help get those temps down.  ;)

But I think you already know what I was going to say now.

If you oc it may help but get a 212 as watercoolers at entry level or cheapo ones are bested or matched by air coolers like the 212 evo
