Overpriced crap.

I disagree. I've had a great run with their products and their stuff in the last couple of years has moved to bigger heat syncs and reputable suppliers for components (not to mention their warranty periods are very good). I especially like that their top tier 'crap' has moved to a digital controller (DSP) for synthetic dual rail and voltage regulation. Similar to a class D vs A B amps.

Overpriced not-crap. They are all very high-end power supplies. Yes, EVGAs are better value, so that's why EVGA is recommended, but calling them crap is far out.

I know they're excellent. I call them crap because they're overpriced and the OP doesn't need something like that.

He's OCing. Arguably one of the most important things in OC is the power supply to the units, and stable voltage control.

Then he should get an XFX or SeaSonic PSU instead of an overpriced one that performs the same.

I just... I'm not going to argue. $100 PSU > $130 PSU even if $130 PSU has better components, efficiency ratings, and warranty, modular, and may have digital interface for control.

It depends on what David values. Not the purchase price.

You're going to talk shit about XFX or SeaSonic? SeaSonic is literally the most reputable PSU manufacturer in the industry.

EVGA 550W GS, XFX Pro 550W. 650W is also another option you can take. Build should not ever consume even 400W, 350W about on stress.

Corsair RM650x, RM550x or HX750i

EVGA G2 can usually be found cheaper than the Corsair RM variant units, which is why I recommend it always. The Corsair RMi, RMx, and HXi are not any higher quality than the G2. Also, voltage reading software is usually quite faulty alone because it reads the average voltage over a long time interval, whereas an oscilloscope captures everything. So it may give general voltage but is not useful for ripple readings, and is also not really something an end user needs to spend $10 more for in an HXi. You know it's quality without the monitoring tool.

You'll find that $200 PSUs don't really have higher quality components than a unit half their price often. There is a reason so few units are recommended. Anything that is quality and not EVGA usually is overpriced.

No? I think you missed the point of that post.

What was your point? Efficiency, modularity, and warranties are all things you can get with a competitively priced PSU.

got all my parts except my psu(typical right) i have a 4790k plan to oc and a 970 i plan to oc. from canada btw

For wattage it would be funny if you managed to reach 300W so an EVGA GS/G2 of 550W would be good. If that's a little spendy then the B2 series is also good.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.
