So im thinking of upgrading my Cpu , i know with an i5 4670k i  dont need to upgrade, but i want to do so what is the next logical step to upgrade, i know i will need a new motherboard, new ram and processor depending on what i upgrade to as their isnt much more performance i can get with a socket 1150 board and with 4 cores, so should i go for 6 core, or 8 core, is it really worth it, or should i just fight my new hardware syndrome and just wait till the summer when intel unveils more cpus as they do most every year.

overclock it and wait for the new products.

Why do you want to upgarde. THe 4690k is still a great  cpu. Stick with it for at leats 3 more years unless your need to do 3d amination(im currently waiting for a render on my e3 1231 v3 right now).

like my op stated, i know its still fine, i want to upgrade because i want to upgrade,  and i know ill get better streaming preformance with more cores, however my current cpu blows the 9590 out of the water, so no point in going for one of those.

ive been told theres not much of a prefmance gain if i go skylake

there will be a lot more money spent

but you will see a large performance gain because you are on the original Haswell not the refresh. You'll get about a 13%~ improvement if you go i7 it'd be more 20%~

its already at 4.3ghz...

oh ok.

there's no point of going skylake or devil's canyon, there's no big performance again whatsoever....

so if i go, with the skylake and get the same amount fo ram i have now ill get about a 20% boost in preformance, even tho its still a quadcore?

in some tasks yes but there probably wont be much difference in most. if you run a lot of multi threaded programs get an i7 if you really need to upgrade

Im trying to get better streaming performance and i know i need more cores for it, so 2011-v3 is loooking more likely for preformance

IF you get a 6700k. Yes about that much. the 6700k is sitting at the top of the charts for most situations right now.

Again, if you go for a i5 you won't see that much of a huge boost. But yes you will see a performance increase because of the 14nm manufacturing process, more cache, faster base speed (more overclockability) faster memory and more PCI express lanes. There are A LOT of factors, mainly the increased IPS with skylake, RAM speed and faster stock speeds, which again, you can overclock to about 4.4 with minimal effort

edit: and I saw you streamed, More threads will help you with that
