Can this problem be fixed?

Go to solution Solved by ApolloX75,

There were no bent pins, I tested different CPU and it was fine. My warranty for CPU has ended, so Intel won't replace it.

That's balls. 4670k is already at the three year mark? I better keep a closer eye on mine then.

As for physically fixing a cpu I don't think it can be done without very specialized tools. And even then I doubt it could be done.

My 4670k can boot in to windows with only one core enabled in bios, any more and I get BSOD while windows is loading, same thing while installing windows. Has anyone had experience with something like this?

Maybe because of that OC?

Maybe because of that OC?

Maybe, but I doubt it. OC would rather made it to burn out completely. I was using a sensable OC for daily use, when I benchmarked I also kept the CPU in cool 50o c temperature.

Lower the clock to something reasonable for 1rst gen haswell like 4.2 ghz and try again

1. Reset bios back to defaults

2. Try installing a clean OS on a brand new or spare drive

3. All failed, then try cpu on another board or get another cpu to test it on your current board.

4. Update bios

All mentioned steps have been done. The problem is CPU, but I want to know if the CPU can be fixed ( physically ), as there is something wrong with it. I can't give it to warranty, because warranty period is over.

Sounds to me like you might have a damaged CPU. You might be able to contact intel and get a replacement, might be worth a shot.

Could also be the motherboard, have you checked the socket for any bent or damaged pins?

Even steps 3 and 4? cpu carry a warranty of 3 years.  Go to intel's site and type in your cpu info to check the warranty status

My retailer has specified two years. Even if I tried RMA'ing to Intel, they would see that my chip is delidded. I might've fooled locals, but I can't fool Intel.

Then it varies by region, here is 3 years for retail and 1 year for OEM.

It's two years here :/. I tried giving the CPU to them, because CPU did this while still under warranty ( it took some days to diagnose what was the cause ), but they rejected it as it was one day over warranty time ( warranty ended this Sunday and they don't work on Sundays ). If the CPU wasn't deluded I would contact authorities, but since my CPU is deluded I could call fire on myself.

If I wasn't a student I could buy a new one, but it took me two fuc*ing years to buy CPU and MB.
