And the second rig has a 9590, which I doubt can handle 2 390xs, I don't get buying high end GPU with low end CPU

do you really have an FX-4300 with a titan z?

that is THE BIGGEST bottleneck EVER!

 

edit: i see you are folding, but why the titan z and not 4 way 780s?

titan was free

what im trying to say, is the titan z morew powerful or the 390x cards. 

I can swap the gpus if one is more powerful than the other one with the fx 9590
