Would an 850w PSU be enough to power a 5820K and 2x 390's?

trainergames

I am planning a build and i am wondering if an 850w PSU would be enough to power a 5820K and 2x 390's?

If so would there be enough head room to overclock or would i have to get a higher wattage?

With room for overclocking? Also i don't know which model yet, because before i was thinking was needing a 1000w,but i am thinking of mabye an EVGA.

But i will take any suggestions for a PSU.

just enough to power the system with little OC

but if you want tp puch both GPU and CPU

then yes you need a 1K PSU

EVGA or Seasonic or CoolerMaster

850w would work fine as long as it's 80+ Gold or better. If you go EVGA only get the G2 versions as the others are made my FSP.

What is your budget for the PSU?

Well the 1000w EVGA G1 i was having on my build was $140 but i am trying to find any where i can cut costs on my build so cheaper than that would be better.

The GS line up is made by Seasonic, and it's very high quality too.

The EVGA G2 is among the best PSU models out there.

Why would it have to be 80+ Gold or better ? The efficiency doesn't affect the quality of the unit. Also FSP units are fine (GQ and the 1000W G1)

Generally higher quality components that run better under prolonged loads with better efficiency, they're more efficient because they're better quality. They're fine PSUs but for the price there are better options vs the G1.

I have an XFX Pro Bronze rated unit that has better internal components than the likes of a Corsair CS Gold unit.

The G1 is ok depending on the price being asked at the time. If you can get a G2 for the same then you would go with that over the G1.

That will be plenty. You could probably get away with running said rig that is powered by a platinum-rated PSU of 650W, tbh.

A 650W would be too small for R9 390 CF and a 5820K.

I wouldn't trust a bronze-rated 650w with that setup, but a platinum-rated one I absolutely would.

EDIT: Never mind, I was reading this incorrectly... My brain completely disregarded the CF portion. 850W is a power supply with perfect wattage for that setup.
