I tend to stick with new, if it's something i'm buying for myself.

If i have someone else ask me to build them a pc or whatever, i don't mind throwing in used parts. But i would never buy a second hand hard drive.

Shot through the heart and you're to blame, 30fps and i'll pirate your game - Bon Jovi

Take me down to the console city where the games are blurry and the frames are thirty - Guns N' Roses

Arguing with religious people is like explaining to your mother that online games can't be paused...

New always wins =]

But personally only ever bought a used GPU (from a retailer so i had some insurance) and i got a good deal since it was almost brand new. I would say dont get used Motherbaord as i have had a friend who bought one and there was one little issue like 1 usb port not working... If you want used parts for a cheaper price check retailers.

If i had to i would probably look for GPU's used and everything else new

I've had nothing but good come from used parts purchases, but many have had Hellish experiences.

cpu - used (intel) because honestly its pretty tricky to physically break a cpu if your handling it pretty well.

mobo - new, especially for intel cause of those fragile pins on the board. id rather get new and a good conscience

ram - used. its ram. unless you took a tool to you or snapped it, its not gonna be too damaged.

gpu - used. like the cpu, it should work fine, but id prefer for it to be tested before the purchase.

case - new. i like the look of new cases without scratches or missing feet

psu - new. VIP. new because a bad psu can  take your systekm with it and an used one could be somewhat damaged.

monitor - used.

storage - new. hdds used are ticking time bombs, and may contain unwanted files even if overwritten

I got a U2414H used because of a broken display port and I just use HDMI, and it's a great monitor.

Pro Tip: don't use flash when taking pictures of your build; use a longer exposure instead. Prop up your camera with something (preferably a tripod) if necessary.

I buy everything used unless I can't find the part I'm looking for used or get an extremely good deal new. Never had anything break on me except the parts that I bought that were known to have issues (got them for a cheaper price). Those I just sent back to the manufacture to get fixed and I end up getting a pretty much brand new mobo for pretty cheap.
