Hello everyone. A month or so ago i scavenged a old cpu from some place. And i got it because i wanted to create a handwarmer like in greatscot's video on youtube. The cpu is a Intel pentium e2140 clocked at 1.6 gh and 1mb cache. And so i found 2 pins to pump power through and now a few months later im wondering. Did i fry the cpu? it wasn't a lot of power max 500mA at 5V. So could i still use it. I don't have the equipment to test it so o thought i'd ask here.

I don't think anyone can tell, the best way to make sure is to test it.

Might, but wouldnt hurt to go to the local computer store, get a board, test, and if it fries the board then return it saying it was faulty. Most stores have return policies of money back no questions asked if returned in 7 days.

Broken CPU doesn't cause problems to rest of the system. It will just waste your money.

If the CPU is dead, the system would just fail to post. Nothing would be harmed.

But for science, you should put increasing amounts of volts through it......for science.....also, put it on YouTube if the results prove interesting. I vote for 240v @ 2amps.

5v definitely killed it.
