OVER HEATING!

Hass_mirza

Hi my AMD FX 6300 literary keeps overheating. I was playing dirty bomb on steam and my PC shut down. I have two fans installed and a heat sink but it still keeps overheating. I thought it was the thermal paste so I reapplied it but it still keeps getting very hot when I play games. plz help

Is it a Stock Cooler?

If so, Get a Hyper 212 evo.

It's a 6300. You need a beefy CPU cooler to handle it.

Could you elaborate? Take a picture of them. Maybe you are using case fans with it? They are not supposed to cool heatsinks

you're ambushing the fans? I don't think a better CLU cooler will help. Try hiring some mercenaries

There are two main types of case fans, ones that focus on airflow and those that focus on pressure. If when you look through he fan there is a lot of space between the blades, those are for airflow and won't move air efficiently through a heatsink. The less you can see through the blades when looking through the fan, the more pressure it can build and the better it will move air through a cooler, but that comes at a price as the air will move slower at the same fan RPM.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

a stock 6300 should NOT be overheating on a stock cooler. This might be a faulty chip

No point to get cooler witch costs half the price of a CPU

you cant go wrong on $20 for a good aftermarket cooler like the CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Evo.

Though as som1 said, stock heatsink on stock CPU (no OC no voltage change) should not overheat. Unless u have catastrophic case airflow.

Looking at the TDP of 95W I think it can overheat when gaming, not sure though, he's using a stock cooler. For gaming. And who knows what airflow he got in there.

Could be faulty chip as well yes. :)

i5 4590 uses a smaller stock cooler and has a TDP of 95W as well - it's definitely not the issue

I didn't say he had to get the D15 one. There are low profile ones for 30 bucks.

Or just get the 212 Evo...

They're not overclocking, the problem is somewhere else. Probably their fan set-up.

Airflow, Fans. I said that before. He should remove dust if any, and better airflow, with better fans and the stock cooler will do fine. I hope.

Or maybe the dudes not mounting it right?

99% of the time an overheating chip is user error, not hardware error :/
