So I heard about thin clients and all, but what is a solution where my gaming PC can be in another room and I will be sitting on the couch with a very thin laptop playing GTA V or something at high settings? Should I use a thin client?

It's called steam in-home streaming. If you want to play out of your house, use hamachi and follow this reddit guide

One day I will have my GTX 970. One day. PC specs are at my profile.

Not sure how to check what part works with what? Check out my compatibility guide!

no, I want something which will stream my entire desktop, not only steam games

You can add notepad or your internet browser as a steam game, and then alt-tab

When you start a certain app as mentioned by Fgtfv567, then alt-tab, you will be shown the entire desktop.

If you must insist on viewing your entire desktop without doing anything extra, I have some suggestions, but none of them are designed for fast-paced gaming.

CPU Intel i7-7700 | Cooling Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 | Motherboard ASUS ROG Strix Z270F Gaming | RAM Corsair Vengeance LPX 3.6GHz 32GB | GPU EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 FTW3 Ultra Gaming |

Case Fractal Design Define R5 | Storage Samsung 980 PRO 500GB, Samsung 970 EVO+ "v2" 2TB | PSU Corsair RM850x 2021 | Display ASUS VP247QG + Samsung SyncMaster T220 | OS Garuda Linux

Do you know what VDI is? if you do, then yes it is possible to use a thin client.

Remote desktop will not work as it does not support 3D acceleration.

Look, this type of thing requires some serious infastructure

  • 3 years later...

Not to revive a dead topic but...

https://moonlight-stream.org/

open source nvidia gamestream client. Works on pretty much everything: android, ios, ubuntu, chromebook, osx, windows. You can even run it on a work computer without installing it, and configure it to stream out of your home network.
