should i use frame rate target control?

katiekitsune

im running a r9 390x (asus strix oc) and i dont really play that many AAA games (some are a bit graphically demanding) and my main monitor says its 75hz in the amd crimson software (im not sure i believe that) . should i be setting my frame rate target to 75fps in amd crimson or would that be an issue in games that might not be able to reach that?

Frame rate target works in more or less the same way synchronization software like v-sync works. By forcing the GPU to stop at the same FPS as the monitor refresh. With frame rate target control, you're customizing the FPS you want to reach.

If above 75FPS, the GPU will slow down and speed up in order to stay at 75FPS.

If bellow 75FPS, the GPU won't behave any different as it cannot reach 75FPS even at 100% load.
