200$ nas?

bmspendley

I'm looking at building a custom nas to run openmediavault. I need 2tb of storage, I don't worry about raid, but I may add a second drive for redundancy. Anyone have any suggestions?

Oh shoot! Was that offensive! (I don't care).

Would a regular computer in the form of a nas work?

Hey there bmspendley,

What are your particular plans for the NAS? It would be hard to fit everything in the budget that you have.
For the storage I would recommend using WD Red drives and see how you will manage your drive pool so you have both redundancy and opportunities for expanding it without having to back everything up, reformat the drives and then restore everything back on them. Here's a bit info on the WD Red drives: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=uyJyMi

Cheers!
