Intel Xeon for 7.50 USD?

I stumbled across an Intel Xeon processor marked down to $7.50 in USD.

I'm not confident about how legitimate this is, given that there's no warranty and it comes without the heatsink. Does anyone have experience with this source?

Doesn't surprise me much that you would find one that cheap. Those particular Xeons aren't anything special. You can get X5550s for like $30 on Amazon which are 4C/8T.

Eww, 3500 series. I'd much rather get something in the 5000 series, maybe an X5450 or E5450.

basically an i7 920.

You can't even put multiple cpus on a multi socket board , so it's like buying an old cpu.

Pretty good deal if you ask me , but i have no idea if the source is legit

AMD Ryzen R7 1700 (3.8ghz) w/ NH-D14, EVGA RTX 2080 XC (stock), 4*4GB DDR4 3000MT/s RAM, Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-3 MB, CX750M PSU, 1.5TB SDD + 7TB HDD, Phanteks enthoo pro case

lga1366 boards that support overclocking (non-Dell/HP or server boards) are rare and expensive. The cheapest ones on ebay go for $150+, usually $200 and above if you want at least an I/O shield not just the board. $10 CPU sounds great, but don't forget the platform cost. Same reason why AMD FX CPUs aren't good for the money.

Not to stray off topic, but I'm still disappointed that AM3+ mobos, specifically 990FX boards, haven't depreciated in price very much at all, despite being a several year old platform... On the otherhand, you can definitely get cheap, new AM3+ boards. But they are CHEAP *stares at my Asrock 970 Extreme3 R2.0 with a fan strapped on the VRM heatsink to prevent it from lighting ablaze*

CodeMaster (Name Due for Update):

CPU: FX-8320 @ 4.6GHz | Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 | RAM: 24GBs Crucial DDR3-1600

GPU: Gigabyte GTX 970 Windforce OC | Case: Fractal Design Define S | PSU: Corsair AX860i

Like others are saying, the cost of the motherboard nullifies the savings on the CPU.  Make sure you can get a hold of the proper board, and the proper cooler, and the proper case if you go for something OEM.

An athlon 860k would actually be better honestly.

Well, the x3220 matches the Q6600 perfectly

Unless you take into account that the X3220 has SSE4 support and a higher thermal capacity.

My procrastination is the bane of my existence.

I make games and stuff in my spare time.
