Nope. consoles save this current gen have been almost nothing like actual pcs.

Even this current gen, with some 'modern' computer hardware still have enough propriatary hardware and tech that you would be unable to run a consumer os on it.

The PS4 and Xbone are based on custom AMD x86-64-based APUs specially made for the consoles. They're not ASICs, my friend.

The Xbox360 and PS3 are built on PowerPC Xenons and Cell Broadband chips, respectively.

you used to be able to put linux on the PS3 but sony put a stop to that i think for various reasons. Though is you mean putting PC components in a PS3 case then yes it's possible but lots of work and measuring would be necessary to find out what would fit and actually fitting it. People have put PC's in other console cases so it happens.

Application-Specific Integrated Circuit implies that it is wired for one purpose and one purpose only. There is nothing in the hardware stopping you from running alternate systems on it. Many game consoles have been used in the past for their computational abilities compared to PCs (this was back in the 80s and 90s, mind you). They're by no means ASICs.

An example of an ASIC is a hashing ASIC, like the ones used in Bitcoin mining, which crank out impressive-sounding hashrates towards an ever-feeble goal. All they can do is perform SHA-256 hashing algorithms. They have no other instruction set, they have no other purpose. The only thing they can do is hash whatever they're told to hash. That is an ASIC.
