how can i connect my projector to my receiver box?

Go to solution Solved by Volbet,

Hmm, assuming the two RCA plugs at the top is out, then you can use two RCA-to-RCA cables.

Just plug them into the ´out´ on the projector and to the ´in´ on the reciver.

Not an audio master or anything just want to know if i can connect my projector directly to my sound system and what cable / cables i would need as the speakers on the projector are horrendous!

RCA will only give you stereo, so no 5.1.

How do you connect to the projector? If you do it through HDMI then you can use the reciver as a passthrough, and then you can get 5.1.

I don't know how the prices are in the UK, but I would say that you shouldn't pay more than 5£.

Basically, I would just say that you should get the cheapest cables possible.

Did you set the correct HDMI port as the audio source on the reciver?

And just FYI, if you want to respond to a post then quote the post. That way the poster will get a notification and you will get a quicker answer.

Can your chose the audio source on the front of the reciver?

If your reciver is set to the wrong source it won't pick up the audio signal.

on the front is the DVD/BD, cable/sat, VCR etc, one button for each and its set to DVD/BD atm, if i change it to anything else i lose the video signal as well, no options for audio.

I assumed if it was set to DVD/BD it would automatically set it to use the video and any audio from that source

Hmm, it is possible that the HDMI ins only work as a HDMI switch. However, that would be a pretty strange design choice.

Could you take a picture of the front, so that I can see the option offered?

If sound over HDMi simply doesn't work, then it's back to the RCA cables. Those will definitely work.

Is there some aspect of the manual entry on this subject that needs clarification?

Have you tried not sending audio to the projector and going for the audio out of the video player.

I would suspect that the ´setup´ button on the front would allow you to chose the audio source.

Edit: It is just an HDMI switch: http://www.uk.onkyo.com/downloads/1/1/9/7/8/ONKYO_TX-SR307_datasheet_EN.pdf

Someone in their design department needs to be reprimanded.

The RCA cables seems to be the your only option.
