Which CPU? Pentium G3258 3.2GHz or AMD Athlon X4 860K

For the love of all that is stable - XFX TS 550W!

which is nice... BUT atm, it costs 30 USD more then the EVGA PSU... if you use the rebate..

in OPs case, i think we should try make a "rebate dependent build" ... because really, HE DESERVES A GOOD PC...

getting lower wattage, for way more, makes little sense.

i know the NEX isnt THE best PSU, but it has enough "headroom" in terms of wattage to not be a problem.

NEX are indeed better - not by much but small victories

My parents only have 450 to spend. We cannot buy a 500 pc with mail in rebates

dont get that PSU, it will probably catch fire. the R9 290 is VERY power hungry. It would NOT end well.

the power supply is the HEART of your system... imagine if you were to have a heart transplant... i bet you would want a young healthy heart installed in yourself, and not one who came from a 90 year old who needed nitro...

if your parent only got 450 USD, i suggest buying stuff PART BY PART.... get a few parts, send the rebates. When you get the money in return, buy new parts...

Also, Cyber monday is coming up, there is usually great deals to be had.

I know if you live nearby a Micro-centre, you can get great deals for the FX 6300, in some cases you can get CPU + mobo for 100 USD. Although, i would be VERY CAREFUL which mobo i bought...

some mobos, are very bad quality....

also, look for Open BOX deals on say Amazon or Newegg... sometimes, these can be VERY lucrative!!

What PSU would you suggest. Maybe 10 extra bucks is fine.
